As you can tell, Jessica is quite proud to be having a boy! We're so happy for her too!

Little Mason is bound to be a cutie with a gorgeous mom like Jessica and a handsome dad like Travis, who was the inspiration for this session.

Travis is serving our country abroad. I am proud to know such a dedicated couple. We had the honor of shooting their wedding, just before Travis was deployed the first time. Now, almost four years later, he is on his second deployment while his wife is expecting their first child. What a giving couple!

Congratulations to Travis and Jessica! Mason is going to be one very loved little boy! You guys truly deserve every happiness!

As you can see, Nissa is pretty excited about her "Lil' Peanut" being on her way. This onesie is so adorable, especially considering the baby's nickname that she used prior to knowing her gender.

Her husband, Joe, seems to be the proud father, as well. With all the love that they already have for each other and the baby, they are going to make such great parents!

When Sam married Krissy last June, he gained two great kids, Brennan and Drew, as part of his family. It was perfectly easy to see how much they immediately loved each other, and none of them knew the boys would soon have a sister, sweet Emerson!

Wes and Stacey's Engagement

Wes and Stacey asked us to go to Volunteer Landing, where they were engaged a year ago.

They were very affectionate and loving toward each other.

A trip to Market Square gave the couple (of UT seniors) a chance to show that they bleed orange.

Of course, we had to show off the ring!

The first look

If you recognize the bride and groom, these photos are from Jason and Jodi's wedding, which we photographed last summer. We have had several couples ask us the reason they should do a first look session prior to the wedding ceremony. Of course, it's not something all couples would want to do.

But, we feel like it offers the opportunity to capture some priceless expressions on both the bride and groom's faces ... something that is more difficult as they walk down the aisle, especially when there are movement constraints. When, you are walking down the aisle or standing in front of the congregation, so many things are going through your mind, least of all, the pictures.
First look sessions also allow us to shoot photos of the bride and groom together prior to the wedding. Now, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Whatever you decide ... to look or not ... have fun!

Maevis' First Year Session

Maevis' parents hired us to commemorate her first birthday, which was so much fun! We created some girlie settings to fit her adorable personality.

Christmas Mini Sessions

Ron and I were surrounded by some very cute kids during our Christmas Mini Sessions. We started out with a Santa-Claus-outfit-clad Hannah Kate, who seems to be saying, "I hope you've been good this year!"

Hannah Kate was full of adorable, little smiles.

Then, our little friend, Eli came to visit. He really loved playing with the giant candy cane!

You have to love Eli's full, rosy cheeks.

Madison was our third photo subject of the day, and she did a great job! Her dark purple dress was gorgeous.

She is turning into a lovely young lady.

Madeline was our last photo subject of the day. Her energy and laughter were inspiring.

We had so much fun with Madeline, we even made it snow a little.

Karston's Newborn Session

Eli is such a cutie that I had to get right into talking about him and his awesome raccoon hat, which matched his entire outfit, right down to his socks and toy.

His dad, Jimmy, was willing to do anything to make him laugh. You might be thinking he is making a silly face, but you should have seen what was happening behind the camera where silly faces and sounds were plentiful.

His mom, Valerie, was also responsible for helping with the silly face and noise making. We were all willing to look/sound a little crazy just get a cute, little smile.

Jacob's Fall Session

We met up with Jacob and his mom, Jennifer, for a fall photo shoot on Sunday. Despite the cold weather, they were both troopers.

Look at his sweet, little grin! He is so adorable. You could easily see that he and his mom love each other very much!

Curiosity is such a great thing. Somehow, we end up losing it as we get older. However, two-year-old Jacob has plenty of it. I loved watching him play!

We were playing the "I see you" game. He would point to his eye as he said it. That was just too cute for words! Thank you for being such a great subject Jacob, and thanks to Jennifer for letting us hang out with Jacob!

Travis and Jessica Marine Corps Ball

Ever since we photographed their wedding, Jessica and Travis have been very devoted clients. They are a wonderful couple who spent the first year of their marriage apart while Travis served our country overseas.
They most recently hired us to photograph them prior to the Marine Corps' Birthday Ball.

They both looked stunning that evening.

The East Tennessee Veterans Memorial seemed like the fitting location for a shot of Travis.

They are so sweet together. He'll do anything to make her laugh. We always enjoy photographing them! Thanks Travis and Jessica! We hope you had a great time at the party!

Spires Family Photo Session

Even the rain couldn't keep the Spires family from celebrating Darren and Gina's 27th anniversary! Their son, Dustin, and daughter-in-law, Jessica, hired us to commemorate the occasion by shooting family photos.

I love the reflective look of wet pavement. I know this is weird, but you have to admit that it adds something to the photo. Of course, the happy family and fall colors both add quite a bit to the overall effect, as well.

The Spires family was a lot of fun to work with during the session. Ron and I hope to work with this awesome family again! Congratulations on your anniversary, Darren and Gina! Here's to 27 more!

Robert and Wendy are married!

Robert and Wendy were married on Sept. 25 at the beautiful Washington Pike United Methodist Church. They are both fun loving, outgoing people who were determined to have a great time.

I love all of her fantastic facial expressions, especially this one she made while her sister helped her with her dress.

The beading on her dress was gorgeous, and I love how the window light made the dress glisten.

Wendy and Robert wanted a pre-wedding shot without actually seeing each other. We managed to pull this off pretty well.

Capturing Robert's expression when he first saw Wendy walk down the aisle was very important to her. He seemed so proud to be marrying her.

Happy Birthday to my Little Buddy!

My best friend's daughter is turning 4 on Friday! I always call her my Little Buddy. Her mom hosted an incredible birthday party for her last weekend. She is such a beautiful girl, and I am so proud of her.

Her mom rented a bounce house and slide combo for the party, which was simply adorable.

All of the kids had a blast sliding and bouncing around.

Her cake was stunning!

This is the first year she has really gotten into the present opening portion of her party. She loved every second of it this year.

The company that supplied the bounce house also provided temporary tattoos for a couple of hours.

Her tattoo was very fitting. She is indeed a princess!

It's hard to believe how much she has grown, and how she is changing from a toddler to a child. I feel privileged to be part of her sweet, little life.

Jason and Jodi's post-wedding session

Jason and Jodi wanted to meet up for a post-wedding session, and despite the rain, we ended up having a nice day for the photo shoot.

Ron and I had fun working with some off-camera lighting and creating different moods for various shots.

Of course, a beautiful place like the Bleak House and a fun couple like Jason and Jodi are a great combination.

We were all loving the fog off in the distance. The rain really did help create a different backdrop for some of the photos. Once again, we would like to thank Jason and Jodi for hiring us to be part of their engagement, wedding, and post-wedding events. We look forward to working with you guys in the future!

Billingsley Family Photo Session

The Billingsley family hired us to do a fun session for them during their recent visit to the Smoky Mountains, and the folks at the Barn Event Center in Townsend were kind enough to provide several scenic backdrops for the photos.

We had fun photographing these kids, and we tried to just let them be themselves.

Each of the kids had his/her individual personality.

How precious is that?

Splashing in the waterfall was pretty tempting on such a hot day! I don't blame the kids for playing in the water!

Jason and Jodi are married!

One of our clients referred us to Jodi and her (now) husband Jason. We were ecstatic to find out they would be getting married at the Bleak House, one of Knoxville's most striking wedding venues.

Smokin' is the only word that can be used to describe these shoes!

Jason looked the part of the happy groom on his wedding day, and he was surprisingly calm and collected.

The bride certainly approved of his charms!

The guys had a great time pretending to play some old sheet music that just happened to be on display.

Jodi and her friends had a lot of sassy poses prepared for the special day.

She is such a beautiful person! And I'm not just saying that because I was hired to take her photos. As corny as it sounds, she has true inner beauty that radiates when she smiles. Man ... that is corny, but it's true.

Jason was more than happy to kiss his lovely bride.

What a gorgeous cake! Of course, I am partial since my logo has a black and white damask design integrated into it.

Smooth moves!

I took the saturation down a little to add to the vintage flavor of the wedding venue. This wedding party was awesome to work with!

Sam and Krissy are married!

Sam and Krissy tied the knot on June 5 at Remedy Coffee in the Old
City. I co-shot the wedding with my good friend, Lia Ballentine.

They are so in love. If you don't believe in love, just talk to them, they'll change your mind.

They truly prove my philosophy that if you marry your best friend, the romantic, mushy stuff will work itself out.

Sam is such a great guy.
The Old City was a fun place to shoot with old buildings and an industrial atmosphere it was hard to take a bad picture.

This post processing style may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I like throwing a few shots that lend themselves to using the process.

Not only did Sam gain a wife on June 5, but he also gained two wonderful guys, Brennan and Drew, to share his time with. They are amazing kids - polite, funny and outgoing, all at the same time.

It's obvious they love their mom, and they were so happy for her on her special day.

The ceremony was very sweet and romantic.

I love the way the shadow projected onto the screen during the kiss.

All of the parents seemed ecstatic about this new union!

Maevis' christening

Tony and Molly hired us to shoot sweet, little Maevis' christening a couple of weeks ago.

Robert and Wendy's engagement

Wendy is a very special client of ours because her sister, Cynthia, hired us to shoot our very first wedding four years ago. Now, Wendy has meet the man of her dreams, Robert, and they're tying the knot in September. How exciting is that?

Ron and I met this awesome couple at Volunteer Landing for an ultra fun engagement shoot last Saturday, and we had an absolute blast!

As you can see, Volunteer Landing has numerous striking backgrounds for photography. Of course, having a passionate couple like Wendy and Robert doesn't hurt matters.

We added some fun post processing techniques to this train track picture and the one with the train caboose.

What a nice pair they make!

Being the troopers they are, they agreed to play in the fountains. However, it seemed like Wendy ended up getting more wet than Robert. She noticed this as well and made sure to make up for it by giving him a nice big hug and kiss.

This seriously was one of the most fun shoots we have ever had! Congratulations to Wendy and Robert! If you guys always remember to have a sense of humor about things, like you did at Volunteer Landing, everything will go smoothly in your marriage! We are looking forward to shooting your wedding and getting to spend another fun-filled day with your families!

Jason and Jodi met us at UT Garden's for an engagement session on May 8. They are such a fun and loving couple. We had a great time taking their pictures. This is a sneak peek from their session. The first one is my favorite.

They were so sweet together. They always looked so in love, from the beginning to the end of the session.

We tried something a little more funky with the post processing on this one.

Sam proposes to Krissy!

When Sam asked me to photograph his proposal to Krissy, I was ecstatic!.
I felt honored to be asked to be part of such an important day.
My friend Lia Ballentine, who is also a wedding and lifestyle
photographer, was there to document the event as well.
It was great getting to share the experience with someone who is a
great friend and whose work I respect.

Krissy and her two sons went on a scavenger hunt, devised by Sam, and each place he sent them had a clue to help them figure out the next location. The cards he left behind at these locations each had one word from the phrase, "Will You Marry Me?" on it.

When they arrived at Market Square, Krissy seemed to glow, and she looked like if she smiled any bigger her cheeks might pop off! It was so darn cute! Of course, she said "Yes!"

Aww! True love!

I am convinced that Christmas is the best time of year to get engaged! Look at the gorgeous tree in the background! There were plenty of pretty Christmas lights and decorations throughout Market Square that night.

Look how happy the boys look! They seem like great kids! I know Sam is truly looking forward to spending more time with them!

Daniels' Family Christmas Session

Brian, Whitney, and their sweet daughter, Ryleigh, went to the Grist Mill in Norris with us on a beautiful fall day. We had a great time taking pictures, especially the ones of Ryleigh because it meant that we got to act silly, in order to make her laugh!

I love the old-fashioned flavor of the setting combined with the classic teddy bear. Of course, Ryleigh's sweet, little grin added a lot of personality to the shot, as well!

Fall Family Session

We have been shooting a lot of fun fall photo sessions over the past month and a half. This session was shot in Cades Cove of a couple of friends'/clients' grandchildren.

Madison is already becoming a beautiful young lady!

Felicia and Quinton's Hallowedding

We were so happy when Felicia and her family hired us to shoot her wedding. We just weren't aware of the spooky circumstances that would surround the event ... zombies, vampires, witches, gravestones, and one evil fairy! All of this made for a frighteningly fun time!

Ron and I had fun adding some crazy effects to some of these pictures. After all, it's not every day that we get to shoot a wedding as ghoulish as this one!

Seth and Amy's Engagement Session

Seth and I were in band together for all four years of high school, so needless to say it was really a great feeling when he and his fiance, Amy, approached me about doing their engagement session. We headed up to Cades Cove for a few hours on a rainy day.

The rain helped create this beautiful foggy backdrop, and of course, the fall foliage didn't hurt the scenery one bit. This couple knew how to dress for a fall session. Their colors complemented the leaves perfectly.

Her ring was really unique. I loved the design on the band.

I love the lighting in this particular shot. It was hard to decide whether to post the black and white or the color version, but I am such a sucker for black and white romance pictures so I made the obvious choice.

This cute umbrella came in handy several times for the shoot.

Seth and Amy are such a loving couple! I am glad that Ron and I got to be part of their engagement photo session. It was nice getting to see an old friend and see that he has found a wonderful person to share his life with! Best wishes you guys!

Torrid Halloween Photo Shoot

I did a mini photo shoot at Torrid (West Town Mall), a trendy store for sizes 12-26, on October 19. I used the photos with a newspaper feature story (The Knoxville Journal) on the store's Halloween costumes that are specially designed to show off plus-sized girls' curves. I am so thankful for Torrid and the fact that they brought fashionable clothing to plus sized girls in Knoxville! I thought I'd share a few of the pictures from the photo shoot. I met Nissa through my friend and client Mitsue's wedding festivities. I know it sounds cheesy, but she truly is a beautiful girl both on the inside and out. She did the pictures as a surprise for her husband for their first wedding anniversary, which I think is an awesome idea.

Some maraschino cherries added a lot of flavor to this shoot! Pun intended!

Beth's Boudoir Session

Jessica's Modeling Shots

Jessica, my sister was my first photo subject.
She started modeling for me when we were little girls.
Now, we're both adults, and she still models for me from time to time.
This time, however, she is intending to enter the pictures in a modeling contest.

Maybe I am biased, but I think she is beautiful! Good luck, sis!

Robert and Mitsue's Wedding

Mitsue looked absolutely gorgeous on her wedding day.
Getting married completely agreed with her! She and Robert
were married on June 13 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in
Maryville, and their reception was held at Green Meadow
Country Club in Louisville. Both locations
made for some beautiful photo opportunities!

I love the way this shot of the cake topper turned out. I wanted to show the
reception hall in a different way than just the standard, straightforward shots.

Mitsue danced with her cute daughter, Emma, several times that evening.
Both mother and daughter seemed to have an incredible day.

I am so happy that Mitsue has found someone who makes her happy!
Robert seems like a great guy! It's easy to see that he loves both Mitsue
and Emma and that they love him in return.

I couldn't resist sharing one more bridal portrait of Mitsue.
I was so happy to be part of her and Robert's wedding! Good luck to
Mitsue, Robert, and Emma! You have a wonderful family!

Brian and Patty's wedding

Brian and Patty were married on June 6 in a small church in Norris. Their reception was held at the historic Foundry in World's Fair Park. Both venues served as a breathtaking backdrop for the couple's special day. This is a sneak peek of a few of our favorites. It was really hard to pick just a few so I am sure we will add more after we have delivered their pictures.

Patty is a math teacher so I thought it would be perfect to
incorporate a blackboard into their pictures.

Another beautiful bride!

Stained glass and a spiral staircase made for a must-shoot combination. We were thrilled to be part of Brian and Patty's wedding. They are an incredible couple, and we enjoyed getting to photograph what I am sure was one of the most remarkable days of their lives. Congratulations!

Mitsue's Bridal Luncheon

Mitsue's bridal luncheon was held on May 2 at the Chilhowee Inn in Walland. The charming inn served as the perfect spot for the occasion. Several of her friends and relatives were present for the event. It was a wonderful day, and I enjoyed getting to know the ladies who will serve as her bridesmaids on June 13.

We couldn't resist taking a picture by the fireplace. It was just too beautiful!

Mitsue shows off a gorgeous frame that has the "love" passage from I Corinthians painted on it. What an awesome wedding gift!

The ladies toast Mitsue and congratulate her on her wedding, which is going to be amazing! I am so happy for her!

Wes and Amanda's Wedding

I have always been intrigued by the idea of incorporating sparklers into wedding pictures so we were psyched when Wes and Amanda, who were married on April 18, told us they were leaving through a tunnel of sparklers.

Wes and Amanda's wedding was held at Laurel Church of Christ, near Sequoyah Hills. Their reception was held at The Butcher Shop in World's Fair Park.

It was a beautiful day, and we really enjoyed getting to know the couple's family and friends. I met Amanda a little more than year ago, when she and Wes first got engaged.

She was kind enough to hire us to shoot her cousin's wedding, as well, which meant a lot to us. She is a really sweet girl, and Wes seems like a very nice guy. They make a very cute couple! We hope their new life together is wonderful! Good luck you guys!

Eadie's 2nd Birthday Party

We had so much fun following Eadie around on her birthday. She is a very cute and sweet little girl! Birthday parties are so much fun to cover! Eadie's dad is one of Ron's co-workers. We can't wait to do another shoot with them again!

She has the most beautiful, bright blue eyes! It was my goal to make sure that they sparkled in as many of the pictures as possible.

She had the most beautiful birthday cake I have ever seen! She truly was a princess for day!

Jason and Maggie's wedding

Jason and Maggie were married on March 21 at a cute, little, white church that's off the beaten path. Jason had a beautiful Corvette, and Maggie says she is having a personalized plate made for the car. Now that they're married, what's his is hers ... right?

Maggie looked gorgeous in her wedding gown. Does any bride look anything other than beautiful? If so, we haven't met her yet.
It was easy to see how much Maggie and Jason love each other! They seem really happy, and we wish them the best in their new marriage!

Daniel and Trinity's romance session

I wanted you to see a photo session we did at the Bleak House for Daniel and Trinity Roy. We shot the couple's wedding at the Holiday Inn on Cedar Bluff on October 11, but being the photography lovers they are, they wanted an additional romance portrait session.
As you can see, we captured both romantic and silly moments. It was fun. When I met Trinity and Daniel about nine months ago, I knew Ron and I had been hired by a couple who would become our friends. I was right. I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to shoot their engagement, wedding, and bridal sessions!
I love that they are always up for any photo idea, no matter if it seems a little silly or not.

The Bleak House makes the perfect backdrop for romance and wedding pictures. It's absolutely striking!

Mitsue's Bridal Session

One particularly exciting photo shoot was in Birmingham, Alabama at the home of one of our bride's relatives. Mitsue and I spent the day at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, as well as at her aunt's goregous home, taking advantage of all of the beautiful surroundings. It was an incredible opportunity. I know her wedding is going to be equally as beautiful.
The surroundings at both the gardens and her aunt's home complemented Mitsue's dress and her classic beauty.

David and Rachel's wedding

Loveday Maternity/Family Portraits

Clint and Carla have been friends of ours for several years. Carla is pregnant with twins so now Josie will be a big sister. We are very excited about that, and we're pretty sure that Grandpa Randy Loveday more than agrees!

These two ladies make the perfect models. They're so beautiful, and they love each other so much! It is very sweet! I can't wait to photograph the boys when they are born.

Matt and Lori's wedding

Matt and Lori were third grade sweethearts. After years of being apart, they found each other again, fell in love, and got married! How sweet is that?
Their wedding was held in historic First Baptist Church in downtown Knoxville. The service was beautiful, and it was especially touching because her father served as the officiant.

Travis and Jessica's wedding

Travis and Jessica were married on March 1, 2008. Not long after they exchanged vows, Travis was deployed to Iraq, where he served our country. Their courage was very inspiring to both of us!

Richard and Katey's wedding

Richard and Katey had a destination wedding in Pigeon Forge in November of 2007. We went to the mountains for a few photos among the foliage and waterfalls. It was a great opportunity to try something different. They seem to be very happy together! Congrats you guys!

Katey's hair looked so pretty! She and one of her bridesmaids spent the morning being pampered at a local salon.
Richard is an avid "World of Warcraft" fan. Katey really wanted him to have a groom's cake that paid tribute to his obsession.

Brandon and Jessica's wedding
